Apartment Review
The absolute WORST place I have EVER lived
Review Date: 1/20/2010 Reviewer: Anonymous
We moved here sight unseen since we lived many hundreds of miles away. We saw the reviews for the place and assumed everything would be good..The worst mistake we ever made. I am under the suspicion that the reviews are written by the office staff here. The first day we moved in the living room carpet smelled of pet urine...advised the office, they stated someone would come and take care of it. My husband moved in alone while myself and my 2 kids stayed in our other apartment in naples for 3 more weeks. The office staff did NOT come and clean the carpets during the 3 week time period, I complained again before me and my kids moved in. FINALLY 2 days AFTER all the furniture was moved in they sent out a company to SPRAY(not clean) the living room carpet. ALso my vacuum was picking up dog hair out of the carpets..My 3 yr old daughter is allergic to dogs and has broke out all over her body in a rash in reaction to this. Told the office they offered to clean the living room carpet ONLY again.(now the office manager is stating that they offered to clean the whole place) The air filter looked like it had not been replaced for more than a year..The apartment was rented by us for 5 weeks before I realized it and took a picture(below) and the office is trying to say it was clean when we moved in, you be the judge of that. The dishwater water smells the whole house up like rotten eggs, and I was told by the staff that it is sulfur water, which JEA states is not used in their potable water. Only the dishwasher no other water in apartment smells this way. We also found what we suspected to be black mold growing all over inside of our air conditioning intake, went to home depot and bought home test kit for mold and did the swab test, within 48 hours the petri dish was covered with all kinds of colors of mold, from mossy green to black and even pink while the top of it was wanting to grow out of the petri dish with fuzz. The maintenance staff scoffed when we reported it and the apartment complex is denying it is mold, and calling it dirt and mildew. Dirt does not grow, and mildew does not grow fuzz. My kids and myself have had health problems because of this. I have had severe migraines, and coughing up blood, as well as blowing blood out of my nose..and forgive my detail, but the whole house has had diarhea since we moved in..as well as my husband and I having blood in our stools. My children (8 months(2 mo premature) and 3 years)(who never get sick) have had severe sinus issues and terrible coughs since a few days after we moved in. When i told the assistant manager it was mold I was yelled at and told I am not a mold mediator. My husband is not from this country and did not fill out the form which shows any problems with apartment after moving in..but the complex is now trying to blame us for a fixture in the dining room that hangs with wires exposed. I have never in my life dealt with a management company that is so rude and it seems to me that they want to want to cover up any problems. One exception to the office staff is Mary who has been very polite, and even offered a space heater to help heat the house since we refuse to use the central heat because of concerns of health issues because of the mold growth. Now the complex did come out and clean the intake area only of the unit, but refuses to acknowledge that it is mold, and they never tested it themselves after me showing them the growth in the petri dish before making their erroneous conclusion that it was mildew. Also if you like to take hot showers for more than 5 minutes this place is not for you. I have complained about the water not staying hot a few times and all they do is come and turn the temperature up on the water heater..yes this makes the water hotter in the beginning but the hot water still does not last. We have now had to resort to contacting a lawyer. My advice stay as far away from this place as you possibly can. |
