Apartment Review
Awful Experience

My husband and I moved into the Enclave for a short 7 months while waiting to close on our house. I lived in some pretty questionable places in a college town, but none of them compared to the bad experiences I had at the Enclave. The parking was HORRIBLE. If you weren't home by 6, you had to park in the very back of the complex. It's not well lit and I didn't like having to park so far away from my home. Maintenance requests were ignored. Our alarm system was broken the day we moved in. We alerted the front office and they claimed it would be fixed that week. When we moved out, it was still broken. The internet is HORRIBLE for anyone who actually wants to be on the internet. It went out about every 30 minutes and we would have to get up and reset our router. They don't allow you to have Comcast or any other cable internet. Your only other option is satellite for TV and DSL. The two girls that work in the front office have absolutely no idea what is going on. We had to return several times to complete paper work that was incorrect the first time we signed it (including one time when they raised our rent). Our apartment was absolutely infested with roaches. Our cats, who never had fleas before, had horrible flea outbreaks the entire 6 months we lived there. When we moved into our house, the fleas magically went away. This is a "gated community". The gates are NEVER closed. We moved in in June. The gates were never closed at night until September. They finally got them fixed and they were broken a few days later. The trash compactor is frequently inoperable. People just pile their garbage up on the steps and let the raccoons have a field day. Neighbors also leave trash on their balconies and by their front doors for DAYS with no consequences (though I complained several times about it). Several drunk rednecks have full workshops in their garages that they like to weld and bang stuff around in later into the night. We moved out a month before our lease. The office was closed on Jan. 1 for the holiday. We tried to pay our partial last month's rent on the 4th (1 day late) and they demanded a cashier's check and slapped a late fee on us that was 20% of our month's rent. Overall, it is a beautiful complex. The 1 bed 1 bath was more than adequate for 2 people. But don't let the "luxury" of it all fool you. This place is more of a headache than its worth.
