| I was lied to by the employees of The Barrington at Deerwood in Jacksonville, FL, which resulted in my forfeiture of $45. When I started apartment hunting, I looked at The Barrington first because I have friends that already live there.I went into the office and asked for a one bedroom on a top floor. They told me one was available on March 10th, 2004.I filled out an application and wrote a $250 deposit check.Several days later, a Barrington employee called to tell me that hard wood floors would be installed in this second floor apartment. The apartment that they had sold to me was a first floor apartment only three doors down from the trash center.I discovered this over a week after my first visit to the front office. When I requested the return of the check, the associates in the office asked me for a $45 application fee.I would not have filled out an application if the leasing officer had told me the correct location of the apartment on the ground floor.I do not think I should have paid for this mistake. |
